You also have to do the same thing in order to activate THE CONTROLLER!!! Who the hell does that? And it's not like the game doesn't recognize that there's a controller. You have to ACTIVATE the mouse by centering the cursor on the screen before the mouse will have any effect on the flight controls. They're not difficult by any means (flying with a mouse in ANY game annoys the bajeezus out of me), but the main annoyance is that you can't just start a mission flying with the mouse or controller. But of any annoyance in the game I'd have to say the biggest is using a controller or the mouse to fly the planes. You can access them from the airfield screen, so once you get done with the tutorial mission(s) it becomes easier to fine-tune to your liking. You have to get started in the first mission in order to even access what the controls ARE, let alone change them. Speaking of settings, I don't know why you can't access ALL of the settings from the main screen, but that definitely needs to change. This can be turned off in the settings by turning on "hardcore" mode, if you're looking for more of a challenge. The "dogfighting" is very limited (the control systems don't allow for rolling or independent yaw control) and simplified with an automatic follow system activated by holding down the lock-on button. This is more like a dumbed-down variation of Ace Combat Zero (meaning you can't take off or land for repairs/refuel/rearm) with WWII planes. If you're looking for a simulator I recommend X-Planes. It's NOT a simulator, which isn't what I was looking for in a game like this anyway.
